Master Liu Yong

This page gives a profile on Master Liu Yong, some information about his training and background

Master Liu Yong is 36 years old and lives in Lian Yun Gang, Jiangsu. He is employed as a Disciplinary Inspector of the Design and Project Bureau belonging to the Chemical Industry.
However, every morning before going to work, and every evening after work, he spends his time teaching Tai Chi.
His interest in Martial Arts began when he was young and his parents encouraged him to study Shaolin Quan.

On leaving school he joined the Military Police, where he became a Wushu coach. His team twice won the Championship and Liu Yong won the Silver award at 65 kilogram weight, in the Championships for the whole of Shandong's Military Police.

Liu Yong began to study Tai Chi in 1987 under Master Gou Kong Jie. He was introduced to Grandmaster Chen Zheng Lei in 1993, where his training was intensified.
On 1st December 1996 he was officially accepted as an "Indoor" student of the Grandmaster.

In 1998 he assisted the Grandmaster in making a TV documentary about Tai Chi.

In 1999 he assisted the Grandmaster as a coach at the First International Advanced Training Course, for Tai Chi students, held in Handan, Hebei.

In 2000 a TV documentary was made about Master Liu Yong, in his home town, he made his first visit to England, and he accompanied Grandmaster Chen to teach in Korea.

In 2001 he again assisted Grandmaster Chen on the Third International High Class Tai Chi Training Course, which was held in Zhengzhou.
 
In 2002 he came back to England to teach students of the British chen Style tai Chi College, and accepted the position of "Honorary President"
 
In 2001, 2002 and 2003 British students went out to China to train with him.
